Sustainability

Sustainability Working Group is dedicated to fostering a culture of sustainability within the laboratory sector, ensuring that members are well-prepared for both regulatory changes and the shift toward greener operations.

The group addresses topics such as the implementation of the Omnibus Simplification Package including the CSRD, the management of resources and energy saving, the reduction of the use of hazardous chemicals, the enhancement of the use of recyclable materials, labs waste management, etc.

Key focus:

Sustainability in EU Regulations: WGS addresses compliance and adaptation to new European regulations impacting labs. Reducing labs carbon footprints, resource management, and energy conservation are high on the agenda. Resource Optimization and Best Practices: the group aims to create guidance documents, facilitate training and share best sustainable practices with the laboratories across Europe. EUROLAB partnered with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on a joint project to develop guidance and capacity building materials for laboratories on sustainable laboratory management, including adequate waste management, recycling, and resource efficiency.
