World Metrology Day 2025 and 150th Anniversary of the Meter Convention

Today EUROLAB celebrates World Metrology Day and the 150th Anniversary of the Meter Convention! Metrology is the essential pillar for testing and conformity assessment, through accurate and reliable measurements our members verify compliance of products and services for the safety of citizens. Without testing, the accuracy of measurement systems can not be proved. Thus, there is no testing without metrology, and no metrology without testing.

Metrology is a key topic in our Technical Working Groups and in several of our projects such as the Screenfood Project which promotes Metrology for Food Safety in the Circular Economy: Targeted and Screening Methods for Contaminants in Food and Recycled Packaging.

On this occasion, the recently created European Quality Infrastructure Network, of which EUROLAB is an Observer Member, is celebrating this very special World Metrology Day by emphasising the importance of metrology in achieving the network’s common objectives for the benefit of Europe’s citizens and its competitiveness. The aims of the network include supporting and enhancing the quality, safety and environmental soundness of goods, services, and processes for consumers and businesses.
