EUROLAB Special Briefing on Climate Neutrality Claims

EUROLAB has just released a Special Briefing on “European and international initiatives to regulate climate neutrality claims”.

In the end of March, the European Commission published a series of proposals for directives to help pursue the European Green Deal objective of sustainable consumption, enabling consumers to make informed purchasing decisions and tackling false environmental claims.

This Special Briefing looks into the details of this package of proposals, highlighting the effect on consumers, Member States and officially accredited independent bodies that will serve as verifiers for the requirements of the Proposed Green Claims Directive. The paper concludes with some brief remarks on the standard ISO/DIS 14068, currently under development to guide companies, local authorities and financial institutions to achieve and demonstrate carbon neutrality claims.
