Debriefing: EUROLAB National Members' Meeting in Teddington

The European Federation of National Associations of Measurement, Testing and Analytical Laboratories (EUROLAB) held its well-attended National Members’ Meeting on 09th October 2012 at the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington, UK.

The delegates from 19 countries gathered at the EUROLAB National Members’ Meeting to discuss current developments within the Federation and laboratory area.

Jiří Sobola, EUROLAB president, outlined the main achievements in the last couple of years with reference to the EUROLAB strategy 2009 – 2013.

The President highlighted the efforts of the EUROLAB Technical Committee for Quality Assurance in Testing and Calibration, chaired by Manfred Golze, in its support for the technical work of the Federation. In addition he emphasised the improvement of communications as well as the increase of EUROLAB’s international influence through vital cooperation with other stakeholders.

EUROLAB Technical Committee on Quality Assurance in Testing and Calibration (TCQA)

The TCQA meeting was held on 08th October 2012 in Teddington chaired by member of the Board of Administrators Manfred Golze and Vice-Chair Irache Visiers Sanz. The meeting brought together a remarkable number of regular committee members as well as invited guests. The discussion covered various issues including the EUROLAB “Cook Book” (the guidelines provided by TCQA on different matters on laboratory accreditation), draft position papers on Opinion and Interpretation in Test Reports and Accreditation and Notification, views and experiences of EUROLAB members. The committee members welcomed their guest Johannes van de Kreeke (BAM) who reported on activities within EEE-PT and EA LC/WG ILC in testing. The TCQA meeting was concluded with debate on potential future activities in terms of preparation of a new inquiry. The fruitful meeting was followed by a Gala dinner at Bushy House, kindly organised by EUROLAB UK.

EUROLAB Seminar “The Role of Accredited Laboratories in Regulation and Market Surveillane”

The British Measurement and Testing Association (BMTA), organiser of the National Members’ Meeting and EUROLAB seminar represents the interests of the measurement and testing industry in the UK. Jeff Llewellyn, Chief Executive of BMTA and EUROLAB Vice-president, represents BMTA on the EUROLAB Board.

The successful EUROLAB Seminar took place on 10th October 2012 in Teddington and featuredhigh-level speakers who stimulated rich discussions on the followingissues:
